Course Description

Course Outline
Language objectives for Lower-Intermediate level based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
After completion of the course you will be able to:
· Comprehend the main ideas in a given discourse about day to day topics, such as those normally encountered at work, in school and during free time activities.
· Successfully communicate in normal situations during travel in the country where the target language is spoken.
· Write texts based on topics which are both familiar and of interest to the student.
· Provide effective descriptions of events and experiences.
· Discuss in basic terms hopes, dreams and ambitions.
· Provide explanations for plans and give reasons for opinions.
After completion of the course you will have developed the following skills:
Listening – You are able to comprehend the principal elements of a discourse on subjects with which you are familiar. These can include situations at school and work. Radio and TV programmes, such as those concerning your professional field, are easily understood.
Reading – You are able to comprehend writing that touches on everyday topics, such as work. You are also capable of understanding emotions, descriptions and wishes in a personal letter.
Speaking Interaction – You can operate with relative ease in situations of a personal or everyday nature. You can handle most circumstances when traveling in a country where the language is spoken.
Speaking Production – You are able to construct phrases in a rudimentary way to express your feelings and hopes. You can also explain an opinion or plans well as provide a simple narration, such as the synopsis of a film.
Writing – You are able to produce a basic, coherent text of a familiar or personal nature. In personal letters yu can also describe impressions and experiences.
